Greer Days 2017: June 9-10

The village of Greer will kick off a summer full of fishing, hiking and relaxation with the annual Greer Days celebration on June 10 and 11. At an elevation of 8,300 feet in Arizona’s White Mountains, Greer offers plenty of cool weather and beautiful scenery. What folks call that “Little slice of heaven.” Greer Days will feature an old-fashioned parade, music, arts and crafts, delicious foods, an auction, Lucky Duck race, children’s games and much more. Featured events and activities (subject to change) include:

Opening ceremonies

Friday, June 9th, 5 p.m.

The Greer Desperadoes ain’t fooling around as they officially open Greer Days with a Wild West shoot-out at Molly Butler Lodge.

Old Fashioned Main St. Parade

Saturday, June 10, 10 a.m.

This is a Greer tradition evoking the good ol’ days with horses and riders, Native American dancers, floats, antique cars and more on Main Street in Greer. Arrive early to avoid the closure of Main Street. Enjoy the parade. Apply to be in the parade here.

Heavenly Vendor Village

Friday and Saturday (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), June 9 and 10

Exhibitors will offer arts and crafts, food, jewelry, clothes, photographs, paintings, furniture, toys and more along Main Street and in the Greer Community Center. Enjoy the shopping and eats or apply to sell your wares.

Children’s games

Saturday, June 10, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Round up the kids and head to the field near 92 Beans coffee and ice cream shop, 92 Main Street, for family fun.

Lucky Duck Race

Saturday, June 10, 1 p.m.

Everyone loves the annual duck at the Greer Community Center. Children and adults race toy ducks for fun and in pursuit of the big prize. Ducks are run in dozens of heats with prizes for the top winners. Buy as many ducks as you want and see who is the luckiest duck. Buy your ducks in Greer.

Great Greer Boat Race

First place winner Peyton Lowe!

Peyton Lane won $200 for having the winning toy boat. There were more than 450 boats in the contest. Money raised goes to civic projects like the renovated walkway through downtown Greer on which work begins soon.

The 2016 Great Greer Boat Race will be on Saturday, September 3rd at 11am at Greer Lodge Meadow, east of Wiltbank Road on Main Street.

Greer Days 2014

The village of Greer has kicked off a summer full of fishing, hiking and relaxation with the annual Greer Days celebration June 13 to 15. At an elevation of 8,300 feet in Arizona’s White Mountains, Greer offers plenty of cool weather and beautiful scenery. What folks call that “Little slice of heaven.”
Greer Days 2014 will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the historic Butterfly Lodge Museum and feature an old-fashioned parade, music, arts and crafts, delicious foods, an auction, Lucky Duck race, children’s games and much more. Featured events and activities (subject to change) include:

Opening ceremonies

Friday, June 13, 5 p.m.

Greer Fishing Derby

Saturday, June 14, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Register at Lazy Trout Market and cast your line at the three Greer lakes (River, Tunnel and Bunch) for rainbows and wild brown trout – and prizes. Check out the $10,000 fishing contest at the lakes that runs through Oct. 31 with 50 tagged fish.

Old Fashioned Main St. Parade

Saturday, June 14, 10 a.m.

This is a Greer tradition evoking the good ol’ days with horses and riders, Native American dancers, floats, antique cars and more on Main Street in Greer. This year’s co-grand marshals, both representing the Butterfly Lodge and its centennial celebration, are “Karen Applewhite” & “James Willard Schultz” – Karen was instrumental in saving the lodge from destruction and having it declared on the National Register of Historic Places. She has worked tirelessly to keep the museum and gift-shop open since then. Schultz – author of 37 books, including “My Life As An Indian,” explorer, trapper and historian of Indian lore – Arrive early to avoid the closure of Main Street. Enjoy the parade

It’s pickin’ time in the village. From the mountains of Flagstaff comes the unique sound of Burnett Family Bluegrass, an all-family band and Arizona favorite, at the Applewhite Pavilion at the Butterfly Lodge Museum. $10 admission.

Greer Family Fun ‘Amazin’ Race

June 15, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Sunday morning is the usual time for this fun activity. Modeled after the television show, teams compete in Greer to complete all the clues given. Prizes awarded at the end. Some newbies last year said it was the most fun they had all weekend! Register at the Greer Community Center at 9:30 a.m.

Greer Days 2013 : June 14-16th

Greer Days is the largest annual event in the Village of Greer, full of fun and entertainment for young and old. Greer Days 2013 Events and Activities include:

Greer Days Old Fashioned Main St. Parade

June 15th, at 10am-11am

Arrive early to the annual Greer Days Parade to avoid road closure and be there for the start of this family favorite. Horses and riders, floats, dancers, fun and excitement will be on Main St. in Greer in the middle of all of the action. Be there to watch or apply to be in the parade here.

Area Vendors

June 14th-16th

Arts and crafts, food, artists, jewelry, clothes, furniture, public service organizations, and more will line Main St. and fill the Greer Community Center for your fun, enjoyment and education. Enjoy this opportunity as a visitor or you can apply to be a vendor at Greer Days. Vendor Application

Lucky Duck Race

June 15th, at 1pm, Greer Community Center

Children and adults love to race ducks on the water at Greer Days. Ducks are run in heats with prizes for winners. You can buy any number of ducks and see if you are the lucky duck. Buy your ducks in Greer.

Banana Split Eating Contest

June 15th, at 3pm, Greer Café @ Wonderland Park

Go Bananas! lickety-split! Go face first and be a winner! Contact the Greer Café at 928-735-7406 or go to thegreercafe.com for more info.
