With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ann Boyd Whiting on October 6, 2023. Affectionately known to many as "BCT" (beautiful, charming and talented), Ann was indeed the embodiment of those words.

Ann was born in 1933 to John and Sarah (Emily) Boyd of Havre de Grace, Maryland. After moving to Phoenix, Arizona in the early 1950's, Ann and her husband, Robert (Bob) Whiting, raised two beautiful daughters.

She cherished her beloved cabin in the canyon and looked forward to spending time there with her family. Her love of nature included bird watching, hiking the creek and learning about the local wildlife. While the cabin was her sanctuary, St. Stephen's Episcopal church held an equally special place in her heart. She enjoyed singing in the choir and shared her love for the church with her daughters and granddaughters.

Ann had a passion for art, culture, and education. She thrived in her role at the Phoenix Art Museum and had immense pride working as a Military Services Coordinator with the VA. She retired from Orangedale Elementary school where she was well-loved and recognized for making learning fun. Ann's various careers and time as a member of the Masterworks Chorale afforded her incredible travel opportunities that delighted and inspired her. She enjoyed playing the piano and was known for her crossword puzzle prowess.

Ann is preceded in death by her former husband, Bob Whiting, her daughter, Laura "Lolly" Boyle and son-in-law, Kenneth Boyle. She is survived by her daughter, Amanda "Mandy" VanHorn and son-in-law, Brian VanHorn, granddaughters Natalie Bacher Greene, Heather McLellan and her wife, Heidi McLellan, Allison "Ally" Boyle and great grandsons, Bradley Bacher, and Robert Greene.

In honor of her commitment to education, her final gift to the world was to donate her body to the Science Care Program, whose mission is to support medical advancements. Ann's intellect, storytelling, wit, and charm were truly unmatched. Adored by all that knew her, she will be dearly missed and remembered fondly.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Stephen's, 2310 N. 56th St. Phoenix, AZ 85008, on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Ann's name.
